Grants Committee supports Education

Posted on March 4, 2013

Thomas Edison Elementary students will have more exposure to iPads, thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation’s grants committee.

Thomas Edison Elementary School’s PTA has been working to raise funds to provide iPads for their students.  The goal of the iPad program is to ensure that Thomas Edison students are prepared to compete academically with their peers.  The PTA has already raised funds to purchase one set of iPads and with the $13,000 grant they received from the Community Foundation, will now be able to purchase another set.  With these additional iPads, Thomas Edison students will have access to the iPads at least biweekly.

The new technology provides students with a new way of learning.  Students can work at their own pace and their own level, increasing the likely hood that every student will excel.

Education is a top priority of the Community Foundation.
