Donor Spotlight: John & Louise Shier

Posted on December 19, 2018

In 1998, John and Louise Shier established the John W. & M. Louise Shier Family Fund, a donor advised fund. Each year, just about this time, the Shiers used their fund as vehicle to support the organizations they cared about most including the Salvation Army, Peoples Clinic, Mid City Nutrition and The ARC just to name a few. Both John and Louise have since passed and their legacy will continue to live on as their children are now the advisors of the fund.

The fund was set up with a gift of $100,000 that has grown to $136,000 and has provided $62,000 of support to 20 local nonprofit organizations.

John and Louise loved their family, faith and community and always found time to volunteer. John was the Foundation’s longest serving member of 50 years and received the Foundation’s lifetime achievement award in 2003.
