Blue Water Arts Committee awards just under $10,000

Posted on May 30, 2013

The Blue Water Arts Committee wrapped up their grant making for the year awarding their remaining $9,700 to a few different organizations.

Students at Eddy Elementary and Gearing Elementary in St. Clair will soon be learning how to play the ukulele with a $2,550 grant from the Arts Committee.  Students will learn how to play traditional Hawaiian music to round out the entire American musical experience.

Students will also have a chance to learn music through private music lessons offered by the Port Huron Musicale.  The Arts Committee awarded the Musicale a $4,000 grant to continue their music lessons awards.

If you are looking for festivals and events to check out in the upcoming months, the Arts Committee also supported the Marine City Maritime Days Festival that will be held August 2-4, 2013.  The Port Huron Museum will also be remembering the Storm of 1913 through a series of exhibits and activities beginning in September.
